Product Description
Want to give your child a little off-road entertainment? Turn to the
Razor dune buggy, the ultimate in electric-powered backcountry
cruising. Outfitted with a powerful 350-watt motor designed to reach speeds of up to 10 miles per hour, the
buggy is fast enough for serious fun, but slow enough that it won't compromise your child's safety. Parents will
also appreciate the side roll cage, which creates a barrier between the rider and the outside, and the padded
bucket seat, which includes a seatbelt for added security. And thanks to the buggy's specially designed
reduction drive, the vehicle is capable of both lower torque climbing and high torque gearing. Perhaps the
coolest feature, however, is the fully electric design, which is not only easy to charge, but requires no fuel
at all, runs quietly, and produces no emissions.
Other details include eight-inch knobby pneumatic tires, an active rear
suspension, a durable tubular steel frame with diamond-plate floorboards, hand throttle and brake controls, a rear
disc brake, and a safety flag. Ideal for difficult tracks and terrain, the buggy supports up to 120 pounds of
weight and is suitable for ages 8 and older.
Customer Reviews
That's right, WoW! I purchased through a store because I found one nearby that
had one in stock. We pulled it out of the box Christmas Morning to find it-- COMPLETELY ASSEMBLED! I didn't break
the news to my eager 8 year old son that he'd have to wait all day for the battery to charge. I decided to read the
instructions first. The very first line under charging instructions read, if the battery isn't already fully
charged--:o Huh? Why would the battery be fully charged? Curious, I flipped the switch to on, lifted the back
wheels and pressed the throttle. That's right! The battery was fully charged. Isn't Santa thoughtful. It ran full
throttle the entire 45 minutes and made one 8 year olds Christmas the best ever. His mom was very happy too! It
runs in the yard on the street, and steers great. I want to take it back to the store so I can buy it again! Really
though, what a delight.
I bought the Razor Dune Buggy for my 8 year old son for Christmas. I looked at other dune buggies but was not at
all interested in gas powered ones (way to smelly and dangerous). I was looking for something that did NOT look
like a toy (no Fisher Price plastic ride-on electric motorcycle type stuff). But I also did not want something that
was too powerful. This Razor buggy is perfect. It goes fast enough to give him a thrill but not so fast to make me
worry. It charges up overnight and he can ride it for 45 minutes which is plenty of time. From the picture of the
buggy it looks short, like your child's knees will be bent when riding it. Turns out, it fits him just fine (he's
average height for an 8 year old), he is perfectly comfortable on it and his knees are not bent too much and they
are not in the way of the steering wheel. We've owned it for 2 months and love it. IMPORTANT THING TO KNOW: if the
weather is going to be below 32 degrees outside at night you can't leave it outside (or even in the garage).
Below-freezing temperature drains the battery life. So we store it in the utility room in the winter at night. It
weighs about 70 pounds (not light!) so moving it into our utility room at night is a little cumbersome. It's worth
it though b/c he loves it. You can't put a price on his delighted laugh everytime he rides it!
We purchased this for our son who just turned 6. He's been used to riding a powerwheels jeep but I felt that the
jeep was too slow for him (and his 8yr old sister). He loves this dune buggy and we're all very happy with it. We
own quite a bit of land around our house so he tends to ride it down the long asphalt driveway and then onto a
large patch of grass. So far this is working well. The dune buggy doesn't seem to slow down when going on the
grass.
It's a good value for your money and it does what it says it will do. It
charges fairly quickly and it holds a charge for atleast 45-1hr. The tires do well on the grass surface and I must
add that they keep it on fairly level ground.
I don't think you will be sorry you purchased this item. It's not too much for
a 6 year old to handle nor is it too slow and hard to maneuver. Yes, it has a hand brake but when they take their
finger off the throttle it slows down rather quickly. The brake takes some time getting used to for a 6yr old. But
they learn these things quickly..
